A sweet, mellow, and vanilla flavoured medicinal mushroom – Tremella – is one of my daily favourites. Tremella has been traditionally used in Chinese medicine for youthful skin. This hydrating, beautifying herb is packed-full of potent antioxidants that create a radiant complexion and bring lubrication to our deep tissue and vital organs. It has the following benefits –
- supports the suppleness of skin and hydration
- its antioxidant benefits help remove free radicals which cause inflammation and cellular damage.
- supports the lung health
- enhances the functioning of digestive system
What I love about it is, that besides being nourishing and hydrating, it tastes absolutely delish. It gives a mild sweetness to anything you add it to. I enjoy it in my hot chocolate, shakes and smoothies and I also make a pudding with it. It can be used with other medicinal mushrooms or tonic herbs and in savoury dishes too, I have noticed that my skin is more supple and elastic and there is a glow and shine to it. Tremella feels nourishing and grounding to my body.
Tremella Maca Cacao Pudding:
1 tsp Tremella, 1 tsp Maca, 1 tsp Slippery Elm, 1/2 tsp Raw Cacao, 1 tsp Fermented Paleo Protein Powder, 1 tbsp Coconut cream and 1/2 tsp Coconut nectar and some warm water. Mix all powders in a bowl, add little warm water enough to make a paste like consistency. Now add the cream and coconut nectar. Mix and enjoy! It has a very rounded chocolatey and Caramel flavour.
