Ingredients: Serves 2

2 medium apples

2 bananas

1 cucumber or zuchini

a handful of herbs – basil, mint, lemon balm, nasturtium leaves

a bunch of young kale or collard leaves

non dairy milk or coconut water

pinch salt

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp cinnamon powder

2 tsp moringa powder

Method:

Place all ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth. Add some ice if you like it cold. Have it as breakfast or afternoon snack.

Nutritional and Ayurvedic Properties:

This smoothie is packed with vegetables and fruits as well as herbs. It is mildly sweet. Herbs are nutrition powerhouse. They have high levels of essential oils, minerals and vitamins. We don’t need to use a big amount of herbs in order to get the daily nutrition because they are so nutrient dense. Leafy Greens have proteins besides minerals and vitamins. Banana provides healthy wholesome carbohydrates. Apples and Cucumber provides a whole range of nutrition.

This smoothie is Tri-Doshic ie it is balancing for all the three Ayurvedic Doshas or Humors – Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
